How I Can Help

Online counseling
for life’s challenges.

You deserve room to be heard and understood as you sort through what’s happening. Whether you’re navigating grief, health changes, or something harder to name, we can explore what matters and work toward changes that fit your life.

Online counseling gives you space to work through life changes from a private place that works for you in Montana, without adding travel time to an already full day.

Anxiety

Explore persistent worry, overthinking, and tension, and develop practical ways to respond.

Depression

Talk through low mood, disconnection, or loss of motivation and identify manageable next steps.

Stress & life transitions

Make space for the demands, uncertainty, and changing expectations that come with life’s shifts.

Relationship & family difficulties

In individual counseling, we can consider patterns, communication, and boundaries, and how you want to respond in your relationships.

Emotional awareness & regulation

Build a clearer understanding of what you feel and explore ways to respond when emotions are hard to name or manage.

Problem solving & decision making

Sort through competing priorities, examine options, and work toward decisions that fit your circumstances.

A real conversation.
A practical way forward.

I’m Bill Frederick, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Montana.

My approach is straightforward, empathetic, and collaborative. I want to understand you as an individual: what matters to you, what has been difficult, and what you want from counseling.

Person-Centered Therapy is the foundation of my work. From there, we can bring together emotional exploration, critical thinking, and practical problem solving in ways that are useful for you.

As an Army veteran and former law enforcement officer, I bring firsthand understanding of some of the pressures veterans and first responders face. I work with people from all walks of life, and I take time to understand your experience on its own terms.

I’ve also been married for nearly 30 years and have raised two children. Those experiences shape how I support individuals navigating relationships and family life.

There is no single model that fits everyone. We can talk through what you’re looking for and what kind of support would be most helpful.

More about my approach

My Approach

Start with the person.
Find what’s useful.

Counseling begins with understanding you. These approaches offer different ways to explore concerns and work toward meaningful goals, at a pace that fits. My role is to help you see your strengths and options more clearly so you can decide what comes next.

Your experience and priorities help guide the work.

The Foundation

Person-Centered

We begin with your perspective, creating space to discuss concerns honestly and feel understood. Your values and goals shape our conversations.

Solution-Focused

When useful, we look at your strengths, times when things have gone differently, and workable next steps you can put into practice.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

We can examine connections between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to understand patterns and consider what might help.

Polyvagal-informed

When relevant, we consider how stress and nervous-system responses affect your experience, and explore ways to support emotional regulation.

Faith & spirituality

If you would like your faith or spirituality to be part of counseling, we can incorporate your beliefs and values into our work together. Whether you draw on a Christian faith, another spiritual tradition, or no religious belief, you are welcome here. You decide whether and how these conversations fit your goals.

Before We Meet

Questions about
telehealth counseling.

Where can I attend sessions?

Sessions are offered online. You need to be physically located in Montana when we meet, even if you normally live in Montana and are traveling elsewhere.

What can we work on?

We can explore anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, and relationship or family difficulties. People come to counseling for many reasons. These are common starting points, but you don’t need to fit what you’re experiencing into one of these categories to reach out. We’ll talk about what you’re looking for and how best to meet your needs.

What happens in the first session?

We’ll talk about what brought you here, what you’d like to be different, and any questions you have. You don’t need to have everything figured out or share more than you’re ready to discuss. I’ll ask questions to understand your situation and strengths, and together we can identify a practical starting point.

Do I need to be a veteran or first responder?

No. My experiences in the Army and law enforcement are only part of what I bring to counseling, and I welcome clients from all walks of life.

Can faith or spirituality be part of counseling?

Yes, if you want it to be. Your beliefs and values can be part of our conversations, and you decide whether that fits your goals. You do not need to hold any religious belief to work with me.
